TS Bridges
Lyrically, the bridge is typically used to pause and reflect on the earlier portions of the song or to prepare the listener for the climax. The term may also refer to the section between the verse and the chorus, though this is more commonly called the pre-chorus or link.
The bridge in Dear John gives me chills every time I hear it.
The “All the girls that you’ve run dry have tired lifeless eyes cause you’ve burned them out” is probably the best lyric I’ve ever heard. It’s so emotional and perfect. It’s the best “fuck you” song to an ex. I love that song and scream/sing the whole bridge at the top of my lungs every time I hear it.
Fearless, Clean, Treacherous, Our Song, Mine, Enchanted…. I’m just gonna end up listing every song if I’m not careful lol. So many great bridges but I think All Too Well tops them all.
For me though the one that really gets me is Never Grow Up, just gets harder with time.
I cried the first time I heard it when I was 18 and scared about moving out and going to college, and I cried even harder when I heard it again a few months ago, living with my boyfriend in a new city with a big girl job, but sometimes wishing I had that innocent, carefree time of my life back.
I want to even imagine how hard I will sob when Taylor sings it to my future baby.
